[EA Coast] Activities at FAST

Dear Siajali,

Thank for your message to the mailing list and especially for inviting Gabriela Mayorga Adame to your Faculty of Aquatic Science and Technology (FAST) at the University of Dar es Salaam.

I think, it would be interesting if you could post a message to this mailing list describing the activities in coastal modeling at FAST. Some information is already provided on page 41 of Stefano Mazzilli's interesting report downloadable at

Still it would be great if you could provide additional information to this list. For example, what coastal models is FAST using at the moment and what coastal processes do you study with them and for what reason? If you are not using any models, what are FAST's plan for the future concerning coastal modeling?

Maybe other institutes on this list would like to post a message, too, describing their current activities or future plans in coastal modeling. It would be great to share this kind of information among institutes in the East African region. Maybe collaborations will emerge from this.

  Thank you very much for Gabriela Mayoga Adame's second progress Report, I made a follow up on it. Really, it is a good progress and I'm sure that within a short time we will have modellor experts in our country ( Tanzania). 

  I am also happy to welcome Gabriela Mayoga to visit us at University of Dar es Salaam ( Faculty of Aquatic science and Technology). Actually we need more knowledge about Computer application of Modelling in Coastal water. We hope that, through sharing the knowlegde with experts like Gabriela, we can benefit enough in running medelling softwares.
