Eligibility
The opportunities are open to undergraduate and graduate students that are enrolled in an academic program in the US during the time they would be at the Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) in Zanzibar for two months. Students do not have to be US citizens.
Students who will finish their undergraduate studies just before and begin their graduate studies just after they would be at IMS in Zanzibar are currently not eligible, but are nevertheless encouraged to express their interest (Application Procedure). If they turn out to be top candidates, the National Science Foundation, which is providing the funding, will be asked whether these students are allowed to be accepted.
Students, especially undergraduate students, are not required to have prior knowledge of using the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) or making measurements with an ADCP and a CTD, but must have a basic understanding of coastal physical oceanography.
